CD40 is expressed on antigen presenting cells, such as B cells and macrophages. Binding of CD40 to its ligand CD154 (CD40L) on T helper cells can activate antigen presenting cells. In macrophages, activated macrophages produce nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species, which are important in clearance of pathogens inside the cells. In B cells, activation of CD40 is important for antibody isotype switching, differentiation to plasma cells and secretion of high-affinity specific antibodies. SPEED Biosystems provides the following versions of CD40 proteins.
