Tumor necrosis factor (TNF, tumor necrosis factor alpha, TNF-alpha) is a cytokine involved in acute inflammation. Malfunction of TNF is involved in many diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis inflammatory bowel disease. These diseases can be treated with TNF-inhibiting antibodies, small molecules or soluble receptors, including infliximab (Remicade), adalimumab (Humira), certolizumab pegol (Cimzia) and etanercept (Enbrel).
