SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein can be cleaved to two subunits: S1 subunit contains a receptor-binding domain (RBD) that binds to ACE2 on cell surface; S2 subunit mediates fusion between viral and host cell membranes and induce entry of the virus. The S RBD protein plays key parts in the induction of neutralizing-antibody and T-cell responses. This protein is the full-length S protein of SARS-CoV-2, containing Val16-Pro1213 from Accession# QHD43416.1, with two induced point mutations: R683A and R685A.The protein has a calculated MW of 134.6 kDa, but appears at 170-220 kDa under reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE, due to glycosylation.
